A Weekend In Idaho

camp mivoden 2Last weekend I was at Camp MiVoden on Hayden Lake, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

A group of us from 6 or 7 states gathered for a Winter Advance.

It was a terrific location. The weather was great. The fellowship was sweet.

And, the Word of God taught was really, really good. I posted some of my “take aways” on Facebook.

What Phase Are You Going Through?

The theme was “phases.” All of us go through different phases or seasons in our lives. Guess what? You’re always in a phase or season!

It was a blessing for me to teach twice during the weekend. On Friday night I shared some simple, basic truths from the Bible about how God does not change. He is constant.

That’s really an important thing to remember. No matter what phase or season you are in, God does not change.

People may change their minds, but isn’t it encouraging to think what God has promised in the Scriptures remains unchanged? Doesn’t it build your confidence in Him knowing He does not lie, and therefore you really can trust Him?

Where Did The Moon Go?

The Bible says that God does not vary, and that with Him there is no shadow of turning. Shadow of turning refers to shadows in the heavenlies because of the turning or rotating of planets or stars.

Some night you may gaze up and see a beautiful full moon. Others nights all you can see is a sliver of the moon. There are other nights where you see no moon at all! That’s because of shadow of turning.

But God is constant; no shifting of shadows with Him. He is certainly far, far greater than anything in the heavenlies that some people put their trust in. He has no shadow of turning.

Regardless of what phase we are in now or what phase we may enter into, we can put our trust in God because He does not change. That’s very encouraging when we read things in Scripture like nothing can ever separate us from His love. His love for you will not change, period!

By the way, some call these type of events “retreats,” which means to take a break from the loud, busy world to get spiritually refreshed. We called it an “advance.” It’s the same basic idea, only with a view of taking what we glean and advancing forward with it in our lives.

Do you like retreats and advances? When did you last attend one?
