MONKEYS AND THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION

Does This Perplex You Like It Does Me?

Do you know why I’m so perplexed when I think about the theory of evolution? I look at humans, and then I look at monkeys, and then I look back at humans again, and it just baffles me. And, now, I am pondering a new question about the theory of evolution.

But first, a quick question about all the monkeys on the planet. If humans did evolve from monkeys, what are we supposed to do or say when we go to the zoo? Do we shy away from the monkey exhibits all together, because we don’t really know what to tell them? Or, do we go and see them anyway and offer the monkeys our deepest sympathies because they didn’t make it; they’re still monkeys?

What is the kindest, most politically correct action to take when seeing the monkeys at the zoo?

Meanwhile, my new question about evolution that puzzles me lately. If the theory of evolution is actually true, and not just a theory, what’s the point? If you go back as far as Adam, roughly 6,000 years, there has really been no appreciable physical change in human beings. So, we have either stopped evolving, or, the “evolution” process takes a really, really, really long time.

But What’s The End Game?

Even if we really are evolving at a snail’s pace, what’s the point? What’s the purpose? What’s the end game?

Is it an eternal evolving? To what end? And, if there is an end point, will we all make it? Or, will some be left behind like the monkeys?

Many, not all, who believe in evolution, dismiss the Biblical teaching of creation. Many believe man created God, not the other way around. The reason they say is because some of us are supposedly just not psychologically sound enough to deal with the “real world” and so we need a crutch to get by. Really?

In my opinion, those who reject God and His Word have lots of crutches: fables and fairy tales labeled as theories or advanced thinking.

It’s a crutch for me to believe the Bible, but not a crutch for those who get their advice and direction from zodiac signs? Really?

It’s a crutch for me to follow the wisdom from the Scriptures but not a crutch for those who choose to believe what they just “feel” is right? Really?

Are We Just Getting Smarter?

Some might argue that we are evolving mentally and as a result getting so much smarter. We certainly have invented lots of new “modern” stuff in the last 200 years. But for the last 6,000 years humans increasingly do more and more evil and hurtful things to each other. That doesn’t sound like we’re getting smarter.

As far as “smarts” go, a study at Stanford University says we are actually getting dumber! No! Say it ain’t so!

Again, if we really are evolving, what’s the point? And, by the way, who cares anyway?
If we are evolving it’ll be thousands of years before a significant change happens and you and I won’t be here. Meanwhile, scientifically speaking, the theory of evolution is just that: a theory. It is not a law or a truth. It is a theory.

So What If Evolution Is Not True?

What if the Bible really is true? What if there is One Great Almighty Creator and He created humans beings? What if the Bible really is true and the real purpose, the real end game it declares, is absolutely true?

Bible - 3If so, one might be inclined to open the “good book” and find out God’s plan, purpose and end game for mankind. One might want to read and find out what God’s Son, Jesus Christ, did for all of mankind. One might be surprised to see God’s undeserved and immeasurable love for human beings and His desire that we live forever.

One thing’s for sure: God gives all humans the freedom to choose what thoughts we think. We can choose to believe whatever we want to believe. We can worship the trees, get our direction and wisdom from the zodiac or Tarot cards, even call the Bible old fashioned and not relevant for today’s modern world, or, whatever.

But the big question is really not, what we believe. The real question is, why do we believe what we believe?
