Years ago, I was lead by the Holy Spirit to give a bucket of salt to each of two men at church. They had entered into an agreement for a certain amount of time. The one who was most powerful was manipulating the other to continue well past the agreed time period.
In affect, he was using the other guy and manipulation him with guilt.
I had little understanding of their situation, but got a clear instruction from the Lord to give them each a bucket of sidewalk salt that winter.
It was a spiritual gift and none of my business, but I was not surprised that salt caused the man who was unjustly used to realize that his sevice agreement was fulfilled and he parted without guilt.

I'm not perfect either, Burtanne, and so, I try not to judge.
So often we do not know where a person has been or where they are now. I'm just thankful that Jesus Christ paid for all sins and because of that we all have forgiveness.
It is a good thing that one can truly put the past behind and begin anew, all because of what Christ did for me and you.

I'm not perfect; I'm not a saint, but it seems to me that somehow or other SOMEbody got the cart before the horse here. My mother, grandmother, aunts, uncles, the family, and the church taught, when I was growing up and learning, that the correct order of things was marriage and then children, not vice versa. You're interested in the salt convenant now; why didn't the Bible interest any of you before? Unless of course this is not the father of your children, or a second or third marriage, whatever, then I'm out of line. Otherwise, I hope the children learn to do it the right way.

Thank you for the worderful references and giving me a better understanding of the Salt Covenanat. IThe practice makes much more sense when you understand its root. We are getting married next summer and I wanted to incorporate this into our outdoor ceremony. Now I can get our children involved as well. Again, thank you.

[...] And perhaps we could even carry it over to those we come in contact with. We can resolve to say what we mean and mean what we say. Biblically, that means that your words are salted. [...]
