details.]

You’ve probably heard the old phrase, “God can turn lemons into lemonade.” It basically means you can trust God for His help during difficult times. Lemons are sour, but lemonade is sweet; God can bring you out of a sour situation into sweet deliverance.

But I must admit, I’ve never really liked that phrase. Not that I don’t believe God can help in lousy situations. He certainly has for me on many occasions. But the analogy for me has always been weak because, well, I can turn real lemons into real lemonade!

So for me, that phrase doesn’t really communicate; it doesn’t really hit the nail on the head. But, the point is still true: God is so much bigger than any situation. And many times phrases, if they connect with you, can inspire and get your mind looking to Him, and expecting help from Him.

Here are a few phrases I’ve either heard somewhere or came up with myself. See if any connect with you:

God can turn your mess into a message of hope for others.

God can turn your test into a testimony of His deliverance.

God can turn your trial into a triumph.

God can change you from a victim into a victor.

God can turn your plan of disaster into His master plan for you.

God can turn your flood of mishaps into a fountain of living waters.

God can turn your setback into a setup for His blessings.

God can turn your hurt into happiness.

God can turn your blight into His blessings.

God can turn your undoing into His doing.

For me, helpful phrases are those that mirror what God Himself has spoken in His Word. Come to think of it, God has spoken some pretty powerful phrases!

If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. Daniel
3:17

For I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. Jeremiah 31:13b

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing: You have put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; Psalm 30:11

Who forgives all your iniquities; Who heals all your diseases; Psalm 103:3

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That you shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and you shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be
turned into joy. John 16:20

But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15:57

Now thanks be unto God, Who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place. II Corinthians 2:14

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. II Corinthians 9:8

God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us. Ephesians 3:20

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall He take away
from off all the earth: for the LORD has spoken it. Isaiah 25:8

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. I Corinthians 15:54

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more
pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

Those are quite a bit more powerful sounding than lemonade, don’t you think?
