His Great Love

In a previous Love Nugget, I talked about how the love of God is the greatest of the three – faith, hope and love. In thinking about God’s love for us, it’s really quite obvious His love is great. Great love!

The Bible, in talking about God’s grace and mercy in providing salvation, mentions “His great love wherewith He loved us.” The Bible also talks about how “God commended His love toward us while we were yet sinners.” That’s great love!

The NIV translation of I John 3:1 reads: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are!” Because of Christ’s completed work, when we receive salvation, we literally become the children of God. That’s great love.

The Bible reveals God. His very nature is love; God is love. The more you look into His Word and words, the more you see His love, His great love.

When considering God’s love to mankind, I use the word “great” in the biggest, grandest, most enormous and tremendous sense of the word. Great love!
