HAVE YOU FAILED AGAIN?

If You Stumble And Fall Again, Get Up Again - Don't Quit!

Thomas_Edison

I think we can all look back to events in our lives where we felt that we failed.  It’s true for me a number of times in my life. I don’t remember where I heard this from, but it is some sound advice: “Have you failed? Try again. You say that you have tried again and failed again? Well, try again, and again, and again!”

Almost everyone knows Thomas Edison refused to quit. They say he tried about ten thousand items before he got the light bulb to work. I think we’re all glad he didn’t quit; you’re reading this article on your computer!

Oh Sure, Easy For Him, Right?

Some might say, “Oh, sure, Thomas Edison. You know, he was a brilliant inventor; it was easy for him not to quit.” Yes, it’s true he was a brilliant inventor, but he was still human like me and you. The fact remains he was not a quitter!

DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU JUST WANT TO GIVE UP?

Some Great Keys To Help You NOT Give Up

sick of it
There are times in life when almost everyone has thought about giving up.  Frustrated and feeling like nothing is working for them, a person can get to the point of saying, “What’s the use in trying anymore?”

Reaching that point in life, most of the time a person chooses one of two courses.  If someone is really discouraged, they can choose to accept their “plight in life.”  They see their dreams or goals as unattainable.  They believe that for them, “This is just the way that it is.”

But others choose a different path.  Yes, they too may be discouraged.  They may very well be very frustrated and feel like giving up. But,

The Persistent Decision

#7 I Will Persist

Today’s short podcast [5:40] is the seventh and final decision of this series.  You might want to listen to the first podcast of this series to get a little more background.

If you have read the book, The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews, then you’ll recognize these. If you haven’t read the book, but would like a copy of these seven decisions, Andy offers a free printed download on his site, AndyAndrews.com.  (You’ll find the download towards the bottom on the right hand side.)

This decision on persistence is applicable in all areas of life.  Whether you refer to it as, “stay the course,” or, “don’t quit,” or even, “hang in there,” the message is the same.  There is reward for those who persist.

These seven decisions are powerful.  They are confronting.  They are not for whiners; they are for those who really want to be responsible and take charge of their own lives.  So, if you’re ready to pursue your dream, go ahead and click the play button!

Don’t Quit

Here is a video I posted a couple of years ago on the site, “Enriching Your Life Now.” It’s called, Don’t Quit.”

Even though over the years a number of people have claimed ownership of the poem and some have even claimed to have written it themselves, the author of this poem is unknown.

I haven’t been able to find a video that includes the entire poem, so below the video player I typed up the entire poem.

Enjoy, and, don’t quit!

Here is the original poem in it’s entirety:

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
