A Lack of Confidence!

There is a lot of uncertainty today.  With all that has transpired in the last seven or eight months, many people unsure of a lot of things.  There is a tremendous lack of confidence.

There is a lack of confidence in many things that people have previously trusted in. Financial institutions that have been around for over a hundred years are gone. Companies have gone bankrupt. The phrase, “job security” seems to be a misnomer.

Shady practices of lending institutions have been exposed. The approval and confidence of government leaders in both parties is at an all time low. In fact, government officials currently have the lowest approval ratings ever- single digits! A recent survey showed that many Americans think they should all be fired!

There Is An Enormous Lack Of Confidence These Days.

There are serious concerns about the future. Many are worried and afraid. Some are confused and wonder how all this could have happened. Still others look for and fully expect their government to help and bail everybody out.

Having been disappointed, and even in some cases, feeling abandoned, people are looking for something that they can put their trust and confidence in. And when you think about it, all of the issues we are facing today seem to be related to money in one way or another.

Now let’s remember that money in and of itself is not evil. People misquote the Bible all the time and say that money is evil. The Bible says that the “love of money is the root of all evil.” We are certainly seeing the consequences of that today!

I wrote an article recently, called, “Whom Can You Trust Now?” I mentioned the origins of putting, “In God We Trust” on our money. Thinking about that could be a very good starting point!

There Is A Great Reminder On All US Currency!

Whenever you see money, or use money, or even think of money related issues, why not stop and take a moment and just remind yourself what is on all of our currency? This is a good starting point because it can help to begin to build confidence and trust in God.

It really is critical to build and develop confidence and trust in God. Having confidence and trust in God allows you to receive all that He has promised you regardless of any and all circumstances or conditions. There are no facts, no situations, no numbers, and no conditions that ever negate the promises of God!

I received an email the other day from an airline company promoting a really low fare. But, the low fare expires in one week. Perhaps you’ve heard commercials with the tag line, “Sale ends tomorrow!” Or, another popular line is, “Void where prohibited!”

When reading the promises in the Bible, you won’t read any legal disclaimer, or expiration dates, or that, “certain rules and conditions may apply.” The promises you read in the Scriptures are all true for you to claim right now!

Where Can You Put Your Trust?

People today are really unsure of where and whom to put their trust in. They are scared of being let down again. It seems that there is a great lack of trust in a great many people.

But, you can choose to trust in the One who is the most trustworthy. You can absolutely rely on God’s reliability. You can be certain that His promises are true and that He will bring them to pass for you when you simply believe them no matter what the circumstances or situation.

That’s why it is so important to choose to build and develop a confidence and trust in Him! You will not be disappointed. You will not have to live with worry, doubt and fear! And, then you will be able to genuinely help someone else to build and develop confidence and trust in God too!

How Big Is Your God? (It was one of the first, and I still love it!)

How Big Is Your God?

I have anticipated launching Confidence And Joy.com for some time now.  And during these moths of preparation, I thought a lot about what the first article should be about.

And in my mind I kept coming back to, “How Big is Your God?”

Actually, one of the first Pep Talks I ever recorded was titled, “How Big is Your God?”  It is such an important question when it comes to having confidence in God, that I wanted it to be the first article posted on this site!

Why Is This Such An Important Question?

Most people can quickly tell you just how big their problem is, and usually in great detail. But, how often do you hear people tell you how big their God is? Do you have a problem that is so big and so complicated that it’s too big for God Almighty?

Now if you are a fan of the Bible you probably know that there are many records in there that show that God is a God of solutions!  Big ones and little ones!  After all, He is the Almighty!  And His name is not Bruce, either!

If you truly want help from God, you must first recognize that He is God Almighty; that He has unlimited resources and power; that He has solutions you’ve never even thought of. He is very able!

Secondly, you need to recognize that He is willing, very willing to help you, because He loves you.

So, Just How Big Is Your God?

It’s sad that a lot of people either don’t believe that God is able, or, they don’t believe that He is willing.  I don’t know what God they are thinking of, but the God of the Bible is very able and very willing.

Have you ever wondered why there are so many incidents recorded in the Bible that show God’s great delivering power?  Do you think they are in there to embarrass you, or, to encourage you?  Do you think they are in there to take up space, or, to inspire you?  Those incidents are in there to encourage you and to inspire you by showing you the great delivering power of God!

There Is No Problem Or Situation That Is Too Big For God!

So what about the other stumbling block – not believing that God is willing?  If He’s not willing, then why did He issue so many promises?  Was He lying?  No, He wasn’t lying.  What He’s promised He is both able and willing to do.

But here’s where people stumble.  A lot of times a person really doesn’t feel worthy to receive from God.  They accept that God can and will do things for other people, but not for them.  They don’t feel like they are good enough to even go to God and ask.

There are people in the Bible who aren’t even mentioned by name that God did wonderful things for.  Even people you would never think deserved God’s help!  And just exactly what would you have to do to be worthy enough anyway?

Who on this earth is so perfect that they deserve God’s help?  If God only helps those who are perfect, He’s not going to be very busy!  In fact He would probably get bored!

You Must Recognize These Two Things

If you truly want help from God, you must first recognize that He is God Almighty – that He has unlimited resources and power and has solutions that you’ve never even thought of.  He is very able.

Secondly, you need to recognize that He is willing, very willing to help you; yes you!  Not because of anything that you have done, or haven’t done, but because He loves you.

Recognize those two things, and then go to God, talk to Him; tell Him what your problem is and ask Him for a solution.

Continue to go to God, asking for a solution until you get it.

The Bible promises that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think!  How big is that?  Is that big enough to handle your situation?

How Much Money Is Out There?

I think it was last year I heard that a man purchased a mansion in North London for seventy million dollars.  One of the “features” was a one-ton bathroom sink carved from a single piece of onyx!  There were some other details about this mansion, but for some reason it was the sink that stuck out to me.  Oh, and course, the price.

Seventy Million Dollars

When you hear the figure, “Seventy million dollars,” what do you think?  When I was twelve years old, I had a paper route and made a whopping thirty dollars a month. Candy bars were a nickel. At that time, one hundred dollars seemed like a whole lot of money to me.

Later, at age seventeen, I worked part time at a grocery store for a dollar and sixty-five cents an hour. I now made around thirty dollars a week. At that time, one hundred dollars didn’t seem as big as it did to me a few years back, but a thousand dollars sure did.

A couple of years later, I worked at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago loading airplanes and I made around one hundred dollars a week. At this point in my life, a thousand dollars didn’t seem quite as big as it did just a couple of years before. Meanwhile, I heard that there were people who were actually making fifty thousand dollars a year. That was ten times what I was making.

It’s All Just Numbers

The point that I am trying to make is that all of this is just numbers. Whether it is 30, or 100, or 50,000, they are all just numbers. I can remember when the richest people in the world were millionaires. That seemed like something so far and distant and only available for a small few.

In the summer of 2006 when Forbes did a piece on the richest people in America, they noted that there were plenty of billionaires. Plenty of billionaires. Meanwhile, the national debt at that time was in the trillions! What is a trillion dollars? How much is that?

Some of us have heard our parents or grandparents talk about the old days and how much a nickel would buy back then. Maybe when I mentioned my paper route, it brought back some of those memories. And of course, the price and value for things continues to go up year after year. But again, it’s all just numbers.

My parents bought their house for fourteen thousand dollars. My first house cost one hundred and twenty thousand dollars. Again, those are just numbers. However, it is how we perceive those numbers that will greatly affect what we will acquire and attain.

It is what we think when we hear certain numbers that is very important. People who think that to have a six figure income is just way out of reach will never have a six figure income because of the way that they perceive one hundred thousand dollars.

So How Much Is Out There?

Well then, just how much money is out there? There is plenty. Have you heard how much professional athletes make every year? Does that bother you? It shouldn’t. It should indicate to you very clearly that there is a lot of money out there.

In addition, have we uncovered all the treasures on this planet? Has every invention already been invented? Are there no new avenues to pursue?

When the Creator put this world together, He knew that there were going to be a lot of people living here! He planned very well for great growth and expansion. He planned it with a supply far beyond what any of us could imagine.

So, here’s the bottom line. We live on a planet filled with an abundance of resources as well as many things not yet discovered. There is enough money floating around all over the world that some people can spend seventy million dollars on a house!

Is It Out Of Range For You?

Maybe we need to check our brains to see if we think something is out of range for us. If we truly believe a six-figure income is not attainable, we will not attain it. But just remember that the supply is not lacking. And, God promised to supply all that we need.

So in pursuing your dreams and your goals, keep in mind that when it comes to amounts of money it’s all just numbers. Don’t let an extra zero shake you up. And don’t forget that there is plenty to go around and plenty for all you need!

The Eastern Eye

Why Is This Called, “The Eastern Eye?”

The Bible is an “Eastern” book.  It was written many years ago in the “East” which today we refer to as “The Middle East.”  As such, there are many customs and idioms that are not familiar to the “Western” mind.

The same would be true in reverse.  Perhaps there are parts of the world that would not understand it if they read something in a book that said, “He threw some hot dogs on the grill.”  We would understand it, but they may be a bit puzzled and wonder what kind of “dogs” were thrown, what is a “grill,” and exactly what does it mean?

So, once you see and understand the meaning from the life and times of the Bible, and that culture, it opens up many passages to their rich meaning.  I will be posting interesting, exciting, and very informative articles on understanding certain passages of Scripture.
