In the last Nuggets, I mentioned God so desires that we would make right choices. But when we don’t, and end up with bad consequences, He looks past all our junk. He looks past it and He sees us as He made us: righteous, forgiven, and not separated from His love.
The reason we have God’s forgiveness is because Christ paid the price for all sins. Christ paid the price for all sins because God so loved us that He sent His only begotten Son.
In much of Christianity today, there is a great focus on sin and works. If you want to get close to God, if you want God to love you and bless your life, then stop sinning and start doing certain “godly” things. In other words, to gain God’s love, you need to change.
Well intentioned people set forth their plans to supposedly help an individual to change their life. They point out all the “sins” in their life they need to stop doing, and all the good works they need to start doing. But does that really evoke real change?
The Bible says the goodness of God leads one to change. Pointing out your shortcomings and weakness only brings shame, guilt and condemnation. But when you put your focus on how good and how great God is, and His love for you, change on the inside begins to happen.
There is never any real and lasting change on the outside until there is solid change on the inside. The more you put your focus on God’s unconditional and unchanging love for you, and accept and believe what He has done for you, the more you will see real change in your life.
