THE BLAME GAME

Some People Blame Everyone and Everything, But...

Here’s another video from the archives.  There are dozens of videos on my YouTube channel. More are coming soon – subscribe today!

We all know people who play the “blame game.”  They blame everybody and every thing for their situation in life, and at times some even blame God! But instead of blaming, why not ask God for help!?

WHY YOU NEED TO LAUGH

What Happens To You When You laugh

Did you know what happens when you laugh?  It is very healthy?  When you laugh it reduces stress. In fact, there are a lot of physical and emotional benefits to laughter.

Two videos in this post – one here at the beginning and one at the end.

Medical professionals agree that laughter is very therapeutic.  Yes, it really is true, “a merry heart does good like a medicine.” That statement has been in the Bible for centuries and some people even know it by heart. But do you know the rest of the verse?

“A merry heart does good like a medicine: but a broken spirit dries the bones.” When you’re happy and cheerful and laugh, it is healthy for you. But when you’re discouraged, sad, and down, it is really just the opposite.

Here are just some of the things modern science has concluded about laughter:

It activates and strengthens the immune system.

It reduces at least four hormones associated with stress.

It provides a workout for the diaphragm and increases the body’s ability to use oxygen.

It relaxes the muscles.

It can reduce pain for periods of time.

It lowers blood pressure and can prevent hypertension.

It improves respiration by emptying the lungs completely of the air they take in.

Those and other facts are impressive.  And guess what?  Unlike all the ads you see on TV for medications, laughter has no negative side effects!

It really is very healthy to laugh; so laugh often, every day.  I’m not talking about cynical, unloving humor that puts people down.  I’m talking about genuinely funny things that make us laugh.

We’re all different; some things are funny to some people, but not funny to others.  But you really ought to find something that makes you laugh on a regular basis.  I have several movies that I watch from time to time to relax and have a good laugh.

And here’s another point.  You can really brighten someone’s day by sharing something funny.  You don’t have to be a professional stand-up comedian to offer a little stress relief to others.

We all encounter unpleasant things in our day to day life.  And while things can often be serious, we still ought to find some time to stop and have a good laugh, if for no other reason than to release some stress.

So, find some time each day to laugh a little more.  And keep in mind, “A merry heart does good like a medicine.”

VETERANS DAY 2018

Saying, "Thank You!"

On this Veteran’s Day, 2018, a very heartfelt and sincere, “Thank you,” to all veterans.  Thank you for your service to our country.

In the video below, first posted in 2009, I tell a story of a veteran, and why I will always be grateful to those who serve our country. For many years on my radio show, on Veteran’s Day, I told the story related to why I so heartily support our veterans.  Enjoy the video.

The Medal Of Honor  anim-waving-usa-flag

The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded by the United States government. It is bestowed on a member of the United States armed forces who distinguishes him or herself “conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States.army-medal-honor

The Medal of Honor is often presented personally to the recipient by the President of the United States. It is frequently called the Congressional Medal of Honor, stemming from its award by the Department of Defense “in the name of Congress” though the official and correct title is, Medal of Honor.

Most military veterans have never actually seen a Medal of Honor, much less met one of the few authorized to display it around their neck.   Since it was established in 1862 at the beginning of the Civil War, it has only been awarded to only 3,448 heroes and almost half of them Civil War soldiers.

On Veterans Day 2007, I had the privilege of receiving an award from the Arizona Department of Veterans” Services.  I can’t tell you what a thrill it was to receive that award from Chief Warrant Officer, Fred Ferguson, a recipient of the Medal of Honor.vetfredfurgson (Small)

Chief Warrant Officer Ferguson’s official Medal of Honor citation reads: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. CWO Ferguson, U.S. Army distinguished himself while serving with Company C. CWO Ferguson, commander of a resupply helicopter monitoring an emergency call from wounded passengers and crewmen of a downed helicopter under heavy attack within the enemy controlled city of Hue, unhesitatingly volunteered to attempt evacuation.

Despite warnings from all aircraft to stay clear of the area due to heavy antiaircraft fire, CWO Ferguson began a low-level flight at maximum airspeed along the Perfume River toward the tiny, isolated South Vietnamese Army compound in which the crash survivors had taken refuge. Coolly and skillfully maintaining his course in the face of intense, short range fire from enemy occupied buildings and boats, he displayed superior flying skill and tenacity of purpose by landing his aircraft in an extremely confined area in a blinding dust cloud under heavy mortar and small-arms fire.

Although the helicopter was severely damaged by mortar fragments during the loading of the wounded, CWO Ferguson disregarded the damage and, taking off through the continuing hail of mortar fire, he flew his crippled aircraft on the return route through the rain of fire that he had experienced earlier and safely returned his wounded passengers to friendly control.

CWO Ferguson’s extraordinary determination saved the lives of 5 of his comrades. His actions are in the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit on himself and the U.S. Army.

HAVE YOU TRIED AND FAILED?

The Voice of Truth - An Inspiring Song

On many occasions I have tried and failed. I’m sure you have too. What is it that helps you get up and try again?

I believe the promises in the Bible are true. When I listen to the “voice of truth” I am encouraged to look up, get up, and move forward again, and again, and again! Mark Batterson in his book, The Circle Maker  said, “Logic screams, ‘No!’ Faith whispers, ‘Yes’”

Here’s an inspiring video from Casting Crowns album, Casting Crowns, titled, Voice of Truth.

MEMORIAL DAY 2018

Memorial Day, 3:00 P.M. Local Time

Once again for Memorial Day, I’m posting 3 very moving videos that do an excellent job of putting this remembrance into perspective.

Did you know Congress established an exact minute of remembrance? The National Moment of Remembrance Act,which was adopted in December of 2000, encourages every citizen to pause each Memorial Day at 3:00 p.m. local time to remember the brave men and women who died serving this country. In addition to any federal observances, Major League Baseball games usually come to a stop during the Moment of Remembrance, and for the past several years, Amtrak engineers have taken up the practice of sounding their horns in unison at precisely 3:00 p.m.

Formerly known as, “Decoration Day,” Memorial Day commemorates men and women who died while in military service to the United States. It began as a way to honor Union and Confederate soldiers following the American Civil War. Later, it was extended, after World War I, to honor American military who died in all wars.

Take a little time to pause and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we could have freedom. Pause and thank God for the freedom we still have, freedom that has been given to us at such a very high price.

If you don’t live here in the United States, take some time to pause and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for your country.

And, regardless of where we live, how thankful we are for the ultimate sacrifice made by our Lord Jesus Christ – bringing us eternal life – freedom from death itself!
