DO YOU FEEL OVERWHELMED?

How To Overcome When You Feel Overwhelmed

Many times when I feel overwhelmed, I look at my hands.  More about that in a minute.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when facing challenges more difficult than usual. Frustrating right? I know from experience, and so do you, it won’t be the last time you feel overwhelmed.

Yes, of course we know we have an enemy; we have a very real adversary. The negative junk we deal with ultimately originated with, as Jesus called him, “the thief,” and he still comes to steal, kill and destroy. But, just knowing that doesn’t change one’s situations, does it?

Likewise, nothing changes if we go around constantly proclaiming what our adversary, the thief is doing.  That only serves to remind us of the situation we are in. And, it can also lead to another futile course of action; self pity.

Feeling sorry for yourself doesn’t change the circumstances or the situation. You can choose to have a pity party and even invite others to join in. You can focus on all the junk going on in your life, and in other people’s lives, but how does any of that change the situation?

Look At Your Hands!

Many times when I am faced with lots of junk, and beginning to feel frustrated, I stop at look at my hands for a few moments. Why?  It helps to remind me they’re too darn small to handle it! I need help! I know it almost sounds cliche, but I need to pray.

Have you ever read Psalm 143?  It’s a prayer of David, and he was frustrated. David was human, like you and me, and he was dealing with a lot of junk. He told God how he felt, how frustrated he was; he poured out his heart and asked for God’s help.

Isn’t it amazing we can read what he prayed? He knew his hands were too small to handle all the junk. So, he asked help from the One with really big hands: God Almighty! No job too big for His hands!

Read Psalm 143 sometime.  You’ll get some really good insight on going to God in prayer, especially when you feel overwhelmed.
