Results From My First Reader Survey

Here’s What You Had To Say.

I launched my very first reader survey a few weeks ago.  It’s exciting going through the results. I think it’s a great way to get real, useful info on the people I want to serve best: you!

If you did participate, thanks for taking the time to do it. After spending time going over the results, here’s what I found out as well as how I intend to use your feedback to do a better job of serving you.

What The Results Say
These results and percentages are of course based on those readers who took the survey.

Some Demographics:
There are slightly more male than female readers (60/40). Ages range from 21-70 with the majority around 50 years of age.

While I know this blog is read in a couple dozen countries, 3 of those countries participated in this survey – USA, UK, and South Africa, with 15% of the surveys coming from outside of the USA.

All are Christians (not a surprise!) with 78% nondenominational. The other 22% is made up of Catholic, Episcopal, Orthodox, and other.

Topics?
Favorite topics in the blog were: #1 Trusting and believing God; #2 a tie between Prayer and Personal Relationship with God; #3 a tie between The Love of God and Practical Christian Living.

When it comes to entertainment, readers prefer video (82%), but when it comes to education, the results showed, Text – 61%, Video – 55%, and audio – 27%.

The top 4 things readers like about the information in this blog: inspirational, practical, relatable, and simple.

Improvement
In what I can do better, the survey shows readers want to hear more about how I apply the information in my life.

Finances and health were at the top of the list when it came to goals, dreams, challenges and struggles.

My Take Away From The Results
So what am I going to do with all this information?  Based on your feedback, here the top three things I intend to do:

  • Keep it practical. I will continue to keep this information practical and relatable. I’ve always tried to keep things simple, too, and this survey was a good reminder to keep it that way.  I never intended for this venture to be filled with deep theological discussion, but rather, practical Christian living.
  • Focus on what you’re looking for.  I will continue to provide information on trusting and believing God, prayer, personal relationship with God, and, the love of God. Again, from the perspective of practical Christian living.
  • More of me. Based on what you said I could do better, I intend on sharing more of how I personally apply the information I share. This will include more incidents in my life, past and present.

Finally…
Prior to launching this first reader survey, I began to tweak this blog’s appearance and functionality, including making it mobile device friendly.  The changes are still in progress, and hopefully when complete, you will find it easier to read and access.

Again, if you participated in the survey, thank you for taking the time to do it. It really helps me to know what you’re looking for.  And, a heartfelt thanks to everyone who spends some time here at Confidence And Joy.
