My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee

It’s Another Podcast! (Or is it a rant?)

I was going to write an article, but decided at the last minute to just sit down at the microphone and record a podcast.  This one may very well be labeled as a rant.  Some people might not like it at all.

I would really like see your comments after you listen to the whole thing.  It’s not that long (16:45) I really hope it makes you think and pray for your country.  We really do need God’s help.

Please leave a comment regardless of how you feel after hearing this podcast.

America (My Country, ‘Tis of Thee)
My country,’ tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims’ pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
thy woods and templed hills;
my heart with rapture thrills, like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
and ring from all the trees sweet freedom’s song;
let mortal tongues awake;
let all that breathe partake;
let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.

Our fathers’ God, to thee,
author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright
with freedom’s holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King.

  1. Hi Mike, what you have to say is sooo right on. Yes, we have to pray for our country because it is in a downhill slide. If we don’t pray, where will it stop? This country was founded on faith in God and we let people do anything they want and we don’t even vote to stop them. Also, the ones in Washington, DC can do what they want and we just let them get away with it. How far we have fallen in such a short time. I know I need to pray more than I am praying now for our country. Lord help us to do just that. Thanks for the good Word Mike, Rosie West

  2. It starts with giving kids a trophy “just for participating” , “pass or fail classes” with no grades and “nobody is a winner baseball games…..nothing to shoot for….nothing to excel towards……..no reward for trying……gimee,gimee, gimee……. we are all the same…everybody “deserves” the same regardless of what effort you put forth……….socialism failed….failed crops, failed infrastructure, failed society…….yet for some reason those that are in power think they can make it work here……

  3. Rosie and Scott, thanks for the comments.
    I know there are are people praying more and that is a good thing!

    Years ago when I coached T-ball we were told to not keep score during the games, because it would be too hard for the children if their team lost. But, almost every kid asked me during the games, “What’s the score, coach?” Yes, not winning is very, very disappointing, but it does teach a great lesson about life!

  4. Hebrews 13:5,6 (Amplified KJV) – Our Father God’s promise “Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions and be satisfied with your present circumstances and with what you have for He God Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down relax My hold on you! Assuredly not! So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper, I will not be seized with alarm, I will not fear or dread or be terrified. What can man do to me? Mike, your podcast made me turn to God’s promise in these two verses. Our response must continue to be to honor God by great humility and thankfulness for His goodness. We can do this by praying without ceasing in speaking in tongues, tithing to support our gift ministers and the move of God’s Word honors the movement of God’s Word, and being more involved in each other’s lives in the Body of Christ like they were in the 1st century church where they had everything common and helped one another. Numbers of people don’t matter to God. It’s the one that Believes that He is and that He can Do. That gives God the Glory. SO much in my heart after this podcast but these are my comments. Thank you Mike.

  5. Thanks for your comment, Nancy.
    It is always great to be reminded of God’s promises – they are true! It is up to us to believe them in order to receive His blessings.
    God bless you,
    Mike

  6. Mike:

    You don’t need to post this comment, but I meant to mention how blessed I was by a comment you made in particular about praying for God to put the right governmental officials in authority (believers). Even prayer is a great privilege as we know as it was all a free gift. But I believe someone else mentioned in an earlier comment that they too realized they need to pray more for our government. I love you and am endeavoring to come hear you share God’s Word tomorrow with my schedule. You are GOD”S anointed and I love you!

    Bless you and thank you for your labor of love and faithfulness,
    Nance
