Strike Three!

strike out

Baseball season ended this past Wednesday with the Giants beating the Royals in seven games. I love baseball. In addition to loving the game, I see a number of analogies to life itself.

I know lots of people see and even teach life lessons from many different sports: teamwork, and perseverance, for example. But for me, there are some really good analogies from the game of baseball, and perhaps the best one is starting over.

When you come up to the plate to bat in a baseball game, there are only two outcomes;

God Has a Tattoo!

Tattoos are quite popular today. When I was much younger I remember only servicemen had the names of their loved ones, or something very special to them tattooed on their arms. But in recent years, things have changed dramatically.

Today, people refer to tattoos as “ink,” “pieces,” “skin art,” “tattoo art,” “tats,” or “work.” Getting “ink” goes back thousands of years. The process now is of course much safer, and much less painful than it was in ancient times.

For some, “tattoo art” is decorative, but many still

His Great Love

In a previous Love Nugget, I talked about how the love of God is the greatest of the three – faith, hope and love. In thinking about God’s love for us, it’s really quite obvious His love is great. Great love!

The Bible, in talking about God’s grace and mercy in providing salvation, mentions “His great love wherewith He loved us.” The Bible also

I’m Sick Of All This Crap!

sick of it

Ok, I’ll simply say, stuff happens. Right? And at times, the stuff is much harder to handle than other times. It’s true for me and it’s true for you, too.

Everyone’s life has ups and downs, highs and lows, good times and not so good times. Sometimes the lows seem to linger and linger and linger; in those times it’s easy to get fed up and sick of it all.

Am I Selfish?

what about me

Recently I came home exhausted, after a very long week; I was tired. I wanted to just relax and not deal with anything. But, there were a couple of things I needed to take care of right then; I didn’t want to, but I changed from thinking all about me, and took care them.

I know the Bible directs me to take heed to myself spiritually, mentally and physically. I know that if my life is a mess I don’t have much to offer or give to others. But the Bible also directs me to be loving and giving to others.

So, where is the balance in life between me thinking about me, and me thinking about you? How

The Greatest

How great is faith? It’s huge!

Faith, or, believing, can move mountains. Faith can make you whole. Not to mention it’s by faith that we are saved! Faith, or believing, is huge!

What about hope? How great

Who Are You Praying For?

who praying

Mostly I never know for sure if anyone prays for me on any given day. I’d like to think people who love me pray for me. But there are definitely days when it’s very obvious to me that someone recently prayed for me!

I believe in praying for others. I pray for certain people every day, and others

Defining God’s Love

God’s remarkable love is composed of three main elements. First, the love of God is generous. If you are going to love with the love of God, then it is an act of giving. God so loved the world that He

The Oldest Man On Earth

Jose 126

When we’re young, the furthest thing from our minds is getting old. However, it seems the older we do get, the more we realize our mortality. But sometimes, hearing about someone much older than we are can be inspiring. Such was the case for me recently.

Have you heard about Jose and Agnes? No, they’re not married, and I assume they don’t even know each other. They’re both in the
