What Is Vanity?

When you think of the word, vanity, you probably think of the common dictionary definitions which include, excessive pride, vain, or conceit.

However, that is not the case in the book of Ecclesiastes, where Solomon used vanity dozens of times. Find out in this short podcast [9:54] the meaning of the word he used so often in that book.

Be Thou My Vision

Do you have a favorite?  There are certain songs that we all have that inspire us.  When it comes to spiritual, or, as some like to call them, gospel songs, my favorite is, Be Thou My Vision.

I have heard the song over the years, both instrumental as well as vocal.  But there is no one I have ever heard sing it better, and with more feeling and heart for the words, than Lisa Tracy.

I have known Lisa for many years, and she has a gift from God to minister with song.

Be Thou My Vision, with full orchestration, was on Lisa’s album, Paths Leading Home, back in 1997.  However the version I am posting here today is an acoustic version recorded by Bill Niemi at Euphonic Studio in January of this year. He really captured how delicate the guitar playing is on this song.

Money Matters Four

It’s Another Saturday Night Podcast!

But, tomorrow is Mother’s Day, so let me first wish all the Moms a very Happy Mother’s Day! My Mom is 82 and I am very thankful for all she did for me.

This short podcast [13:59 ] is a recap of the teaching I did last Thursday as I finished up a series called, “Receiving His Abundance.”  Those who think God wants you to be poor may not like what I have to say about, “greed.” Plus, I’ll give you the “bottom line” on “need.”

Money isn’t everything. I know that, but in our culture today we need money for just about everything.

Money Matters

It’s Another Podcast!

Remember in the movie, It’s a Wonderful Life , when George Bailey asked Clarence, “You wouldn’t happen to have $8,000, would you?”  He answered, “Oh no; we don’t use money up there.”  Then George said, “Well it comes in pretty handy down here, bub!”

In our culture, we all need money.  And in the times we live in, we are witnessing an economic crisis that is worldwide.  Our deep seated core beliefs concerning money and finances play a big part of our financial prosperity.

Having a lot of money is not an indication of one being spiritual, just as lacking money and living on a shoe string is also not an indication of one being spiritual.  But did you know that certain attitudes and beliefs will prevent you from accepting and receiving God’s abundance?

In this podcast, [15:52] I take a brief look at something that is not only foundational to understanding the topic of, “Receiving God’s Abundance,” but it is often overlooked by many, many people.

Remembering

This time of year many people pause to remember and reflect on the sufferings and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  All this week, whether privately, a fellowship in a home, or at a church building, many Christians  will consider the savior of mankind.

Then, this Sunday, many will also recognize and remember.  Jesus Christ gave his life for you and for me, paying the full and complete price for our sins, and, paying the full and complete price for our physical healing as well.  And, three days and three nights after he was buried, God raised him from the dead!

This week I decided to put  links to 4 previous posts:
