LOVE MATTERS

What The World Needs Now...

Large CrowdIn the 60’s, Jackie DeShannon, The Youngbloods, and many others sang about it.

My country, the United States of America, is hurting, and so are other countries. I lived through the turbulent 60’s as well as the uncertain 70’s. I’ve lived long enough to see good times in this country, and bad times. The good, the bad, and today, I would say, the ugly.

Yes, our country needs prayer, and I added a video below you might enjoy.  In addition to praying for our country, which is so vital and many Christians are all across this land, I offer something very practical, and at the very least, critical if this nation is to survive.

There is something I’ve known and read for many years, but is still, in my mind anyway, profoundly gigantic. It still to this day causes me to pause and consider, and I am still

HAVE YOU READ HIS IMPRESSIVE RESUME?

This Is Without Question The Most Impressive Resume!

impressive resume
When it comes to an impressive resume, nothing comes close.

Being a longtime fan of the Bible, I am familiar with the stories or records we can read. Many are incredible events that happened to individuals, groups of people, and even whole nations. Have you ever considered those records are not really about the people in them?

In re-reading those accounts I am still amazed at the miraculous things that happened to and for people. But, I believe those accounts are not really about them, but rather, they are about our God. The Bible declares and reveals who God is.

Sure, we are unbelievably amazed as we ponder

A LETTER TO ABIGAIL FROM JOHN

Celebrating Independence in the USA

letter adams
Above is a copy of part of a letter (page 3) John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail, on July 3, 1776. Mr Adams remarks about how special July 2 will become.

He felt the occasion should be celebrated for generations to come as the Day of Deliverance, with solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. He believed the celebration should include pomp and parade, shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of the continent to the other!

It was the day before this letter, July 2, when the final draft of the Declaration of Independence was was submitted to the Continental Congress. However, it was

THEY RUINED MY WHOLE LIFE

Can Someone Or Something Ruin Your Whole Life?

I have no intention in this article to belittle the hurt and harm people do to others. Those hurts can be anywhere from small to enormously devastating, physically and mentally. Whether intentional or unintentional, all of us experience hurt or harm from others at one time or another.

Life’s not fair. Life is often very challenging. Okay, should I have just said, “Life is hard,” instead? Yes, agreed, it is hard at times.

But most of us can safely say things happening to us could be a lot worse, right? Not to be uncompassionate to those who do have it a lot worse, but admitting things could be worse doesn’t really help us much.

My point here

FATHER’S DAY 2016

Happy Father's Day To All Dads!

open hand

This year for Father’s Day, I recommend some past posts.

There’s a couple of really cool Andy Andrews videos from, Father’s Day 2012

There are some great quotes in the post, Father’s Day.

You’ll find a really interesting and insightful podcast in the post, Who’s Your Daddy, and What Does He Do? (In the gospel of John there’s a pretty intense discussion about, “Who’s your daddy,” between Jesus Christ and the religious leaders!)

Happy Father’s Day Weekend to all you Dad’s!

MONKEYS AND THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION

Does This Perplex You Like It Does Me?

monkeyhead
Do you know why I’m so perplexed when I think about the theory of evolution? I look at humans, and then I look at monkeys, and then I look back at humans again, and it just baffles me. And, now, I am pondering a new question about the theory of evolution.

But first, a quick question about all the monkeys on the planet. If humans did evolve from monkeys, what are we supposed to do or say when we go to the zoo? Do we shy away from the monkey exhibits all together, because we don’t really know what to tell them? Or, do we go and see them anyway and offer the monkeys

MORE FAVOR FROM GOD

Do Your Actions Play A Part In Receiving More Favor From God?

woman looking up
Can you and I get our act together to such a degree that we receive more favor from God so He will bless us more? Protect us more? Prosper us more? Heal us more?

Some do think living a better Christian life than others do results in them receiving more of God’s favor. If it’s true, the better life you live the more of God’s favor you get, that means His favor is obtained by

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2016

A TIME TO PAUSE AND REMEMBER

memorial dayThis is Memorial Day Weekend for those living here in the United States. There are a couple of videos below.

Formerly known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day commemorates men and women who died while in military service to the United States.

It began as a way to honor Union and Confederate soldiers following the American Civil War. Later, it was extended, after World War I, to honor American military who died in all wars.

There will be barbecues, visiting friends, road trips, great sales, NBA Playoffs, Major League baseball games, and of course, the Indy 500. Some people even have a longer weekend, as they get Monday, Memorial Day, off from work.

Here in the United States, we should take a little time this weekend to pause and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we could have freedom. We can also pause and thank God for the freedom we still have, freedom that comes at such a very high price.

If you don’t live here in the United States, take some time this weekend to pause and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for your country. And, regardless of where we live, we all ought to keep praying to God for our country.

We Will Not Forget
